Translation.

(Extract from Tai Kwong Po, Hong Kong, 10th Feb., 1927)

Seamen's Union entertain the Press.

Since the occurrence of the events at (Hankow) there

has been persistent a rumour in the Colony that there would

be a 3rd strike, causing much uneasiness among the general

community. But in reality no such idea has been fostered among the working classes. In order to tranquilize the minds

of the community and to remove idle rumours, the Họng Kọng

Seamen's Union gave an entertainment to the editors of various papers on the 9th instant, and an explanation of the

position.

There were present Mr. Kwok Yik Tung, of the Press

Association, Mr. Pun Sik Ling and Mr. Yik Chan Fan of the Wa Tsz Yat Po, and Mr. Wong Yu Yeung and Mr. Lok Man Chiu

of the Tsun Wan Yat Po.

Fung Wing Wun, manager of the Union, happened to be indisposed, and one of its officers, Mr. Lung Ip Ting

presided on his behalf.

At 1.30 p.m. the meeting was opened, and the Chairman, reading out the reasons for calling the meeting, said, "On the outbreak of the trouble of May 30th our Union was removed

to Canton. When Canton-Hong Kong traffic had been resumed, our Union sent delegates to Hong Kong to re-establish its Hong Kong Office and to have friendly social intercourse with all classes of the populace. Unfortunately, there has been persistent a rumour in business quarters that there would be a 3rd strike and that this was being instigated by our Union.
